THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) EAGER DUCHESS (L Hewitson) was hanging out from the 400m. Thereafter, between the 300m and 150m, Jockey L Hewitson was unable to use his crop which had become entangled with his reins. b) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why COZY DOT COM (R Munger) and RAINBOW UNICORN (M Yeni) had to ease in the concluding stages. c) Jockey W Agrella signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse LET'S NOT LINGER more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey W Agrella the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey W Agrella struck the horse LET'S NOT LINGER, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey W Agrella used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. d) EAGER DUCHESS (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer L Karriem acting on behalf of Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) COZY DOT COM raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (14.05.21/09h54). b) SPRING LIGHTNING raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (14.05.21/09h54).
