THE STARTER REPORTED
A) CASHING IN was nervous in the stalls.
B) ROSE OF BAYEUX was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride.
C) LEGAL AGENT was nervous in the stalls, slow away and lost 3 lengths.
D) COMPARE was stubborn loading, slow away and lost 2 lengths. Trainer G D Smith was advised to re-school this colt prior to its next engagement.
E) BOLD CAPTAIN and GLOBAL DESIGN were stubborn loading.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) COMPARE (J Mphanya) was reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. Trainer G D Smith was advised that should this filly behave similarly in future it may be suspended. Thereafter, COMPARE (J Mphanya) raced green.
B) At approximately the 200m, CASHING IN (M V'Rensburg) was bumped by ROSE OF BAYEUX (C Maujean) which shifted in away from the crop.
C) Shortly after the finish line FIRST RAIN (G Cheyne) had to steady to avoid the heels of GLOBAL DESIGN (L Hewitson) which rolled out from the 50m.
Jockey L Hewitson (GLOBAL DESIGN) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to take more care when shifting ground in future.
D) Apprentice Y Ramzan reported that he felt something amiss with LEGAL AGENT in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
E) The winner GLOBAL DESIGN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM).
F) The third placed horse FIRST RAIN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM).
