THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CONQUER THE ENEMY (D Dillon) lost 1 length. b) BANG ON (K Sakayi) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1000m, PARIS RIX (R Fourie) shifted in when awkwardly placed on the heels of RODRIGUEZ (G van Niekerk) which raced awkwardly in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, this colt was hanging in, in the straight. b) STAR OF THE WEST (G Lerena) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. Thereafter, Jockey G Lerena reported that this gelding raced with its tongue over the bit. c) PURPLE FLAME (L Hewitson) raced greenly in the running. d) Jockey W Kennedy reported that MR BAYVIEW made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Trainer C Hewitson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1, in that he failed to ensure that the owners' colours were available for the horse PURPLE FLAME. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. f) CAVALIER KING (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
