THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CROME YELLOW (G van Niekerk) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) BLACK KNAP (S Veale) over-raced in the middle stages. b) Between the 400 and 250m, SILVER HOST (R Fourie) was brushed out on at least 2 occasions by BAYBERRY (S Khumalo) which rolled out. Trainer S J Snaith will be advised that the racing manners of BAYBERRY are unacceptable and that he must take all reasonable measures to ensure that this horse does not shift ground in races. c) In the concluding stages, SILVER HOST (R Fourie) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of MATTERHORN (S Moodley) which was hanging in from the 250m. d) In the concluding stages, BLACK KNAP (S Veale) and MATTERHORN (S Moodley) came together and brushed. e) Shortly before the finish, SAINT PHILIP (A Mgudlwa) had to ease when awkwardly placed between BLACKBALL (R Danielson) and MARCHINGONTOGETHER (W Kennedy). f) Jockey M Yeni reported that MERLIN FROM BERLIN took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) In view of the performance of SAINT PHILIP (A Mgudlwa) (5.70 lengths, 14/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) PATHS OF VICTORY (L Hewitson) failed to parade. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised that, in terms of rule 93.2.4, this gelding is suspended until such time as it proves tractable to parade, on a race day. i) BLACK KNAP (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer V H Marshall advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) BLACKBALL raced with a cornell collar. b) BAYBERRY raced with cheek pieces (advised 26.05.21/12h57). c) WEALTHY was ridden by Jockey E Ngwane (advised 28.05.21/07h41). d) FAVOUR Jockey K de Melo weighed out at 53.8kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) MERLIN FROM BERLIN : Nothing obvious detected. b) SAINT PHILIP : Nothing obvious detected. c) BLACKBALL : Returned post-race having spread the left front shoe. d) BAYBERRY : Returned post-race having cast the left front shoe.
