THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BOLD DIVA (G Behr) jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start ROSE PRINCESS (C Murray) rolled in and made contact with BOLD DIVA (G Behr). b) The saddle on DAUGHTER OF ZEUS (S Mbhele), which pulled hard, slipped forward slightly in the early stages, placing Jockey S Mbhele at a disadvantage. c) Jockey R Khathi, the rider of BLACK SILVER, reported that this filly coughed post-race. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Murray, the rider of ROSE PRINCESS, reported that this filly did not act in the soft underfoot conditions. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey S Mbhele was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking DAUGHTER OF ZEUS more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Mbhele signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey S Mbhele recent record with regards to contraventions of this Rule and the number of strikes over the permissible level. (13) f) RIVER CAFE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Miss A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, was advised.
