THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLASHLIGHT (A Andrews) kicked the back gate, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) SAFE TO ASSUME (AUS) (C Murray) was restless in the stalls. c) MAGICAL JAVA (L Mxothwa) was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the report from the Starter regarding FLASHLIGHT (A Andrews), Trainer GV Woodruff will be advised to have this filly re schooled before her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. b) In view of the performance of SAFE TO ASSUME (AUS) (C Murray) (Betting 7/2 : Distance 17.65) which tired quickly in the latter stages, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey C Zackey, the rider of WILD CREATURE, reported that this filly did not stride out in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 150m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. d) GILLIAN ANNE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Wrensch was advised.
