THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TARANTINO (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) PHOTOCOPY (D Ashby) stumbled shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey C Bantam, the rider of MISTER VARGUS, which took an awkward stride away from the inside running rail at the 250m, reported that this gelding did not stride out in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey R Khathi, the rider of GREEN JACKET, reported that this gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey G Cheyne, the rider of SPRING AWAKENING, reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. d) IRISH MORNING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
