THE STARTER REPORTED A) TIME OFF and GIGGLE AND A TALK were stubborn loading. B) KEARA (ARG) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. C) KATHERINE THE WOW was stubborn loading, jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) GIGGLE AND A TALK (L Hewitson) raced to the front of the field and compounded in the straight. When afforded an opportunity to place on record any factors that may affected the performance of GIGGLE AND A TALK, Jockey L Hewitson explained to the Board that in his opinion this filly ran in weaker company in its last run and today was this filly's first run for Trainer G D Smith. In view of the performance of GIGGLE AND A TALK (L Hewitson) (distance 2.40 - betting 20/11) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. B) Jockey M V'Rensburg signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse KEARA (ARG) more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a R750 fine was imposed. C) The winner KEARA (ARG) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer K Mitchley acting on behalf of Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (LM). THERE WERE NO JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) GIGGLE AND A TALK nothing obvious detected.
