THE STARTER REPORTED A) MHLABENI was nervous and stood awkwardly in the stalls. B) CLETO and JASPERO were nervous in the stalls and reared as the start was effected. C) BRAVESTARR and DEMARI were slow into stride. D) MAMBO ALLY was slow away and lost 3 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) CALOGERO (X Ndlovu) was reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. Trainer A C Greeff was advised that should this gelding behave similarly in future it may be suspended. B) Shortly after the start, DEMARI (G Cheyne) was bumped out by CLETO (L Mxothwa) which jumped outwards and thereafter, DEMARI clipped the heels of TJOKLIT (R Fourie). C) RED BISHOP (K Steyn) over-raced in the early stages. D) An inquiry will be opened to establish why CALOGERO (X Ndlovu) had to ease at approximately the 400m E) In view of the performance of MHLABENI (C Murray) (distance 7.25 - betting 25/7) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. F) In view of the performance of TJOKLIT (R Fourie) (distance 4.25 - betting 2/1) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. G) The winner SHADES OF BLU was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer D A McKenzie advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) TJOKLIT raced equipped with a compression mask (08:41 - 04/06/2021). THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) MHLABENI examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. B) TJOKLIT blood in mouth. C) CALOGERO cast left fore shoe. D) RED BISHOP blood in mouth and cast left fore shoe. SCRATCHINGS A) SEVASTOPOL not eating up, Rule 53.5 applies (08:07 - 04/06/2021).
