THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In a tightly bunched field, RUBONDO (J Sampson) was disappointed for a clear run on a number of occasions from the 400m to the finish. b) UPLIFTED (M Yeni) ducked out shortly before the finish. c) FORT WYLIE (S Khumalo) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. d) Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse FORT WYLIE more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (17) Jockey S Khumalo struck the horse FORT WYLIE, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R2000 was imposed. e) Jockey G Lerena signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse KOMODOSAN more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey G Lerena struck the horse KOMODOSAN, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. f) UPLIFTED (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (ML).
