THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 300m, Jockey L Ferraris (WARRIOR'S REST) had his crop struck from his hand by Jockey S Khumalo (BOHICA). b) At the 300m, PEARL OF ASIA (S Moodley) and IKIGAI (C Maujean) were carried out by ULTRA MAGNUS (D Dillon) which shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of BATTLE FORCE (C Zackey) which was hanging in from the 400m and shifted in between the 350m and 200m. Thereafter, MK'S PRIDE (W Kennedy) shifted out off the heels of BATTLE FORCE (C Zackey) to continue its run. Jockey W Kennedy appeared before the Board in respect of this incident involving MK'S PRIDE. However, after reviewing the patrol films of this race, took no further action. Whilst the Board was satisfied that Jockey C Zackey (BATTLE FORCE) took all reasonable measures to keep his mount on a straight course, the racing manners of BATTLE FORCE will be monitored. c) In the concluding stages, IKIGAI (C Maujean) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between ULTRA MAGNUS (D Dillon) which shifted out away from the crop marginally and CAPTAIN TATTERS (R Munger). d) MK'S PRIDE (W Kennedy) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. e) Jockey D Dillon reported that he felt something amiss with ULTRA MAGNUS in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse NO LAYING UP more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey G van Niekerk struck the horse NO LAYING UP, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. g) BATTLE FORCE (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P Matchett advised (DA). h) EDEN ROC (L Hewitson), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo acting for Trainer S Tarry advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) EDEN ROC raced with a compression mask. b) IKIGAI raced equipped with blinkers (advised 05.06.21/10h03). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) ULTRA MAGNUS : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : a) CONSTABLE : Reserve runner. b) MOMBELA : Reserve runner.
