THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) APPLES AND THINGS (W Kennedy), JACKIE SPARKS (F Herholdt) and PICARA (J Gates) were slow losing one length.
b) BASS LINE (D Schwarz) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
c) TWICE A MIRACLE (M Yeni) was restless in the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) PICARA (J Gates) and COVERMEINSUNSHINE (R Munger) hung out from the 400m.
b) Jockey G Lerena reported that ICY NIGHT changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
c) Jockey R Danielson reported that MAMA TEMBU did not stride out freely and thereafter ducked in sharply at the 200m for no apparent reason. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors that may have accounted for this filly's poor performance, notwithstanding the above report, Jockey Danielson further added that MAMA TEMBU never travelled well and did not stride out freely in the running and that this had accounted for the poor performance.
Trainer S G Tarry was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables.
d) COCOA HILL (L J Ferraris), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee S Sawere advised (AH).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) COCOA HILL was ridden by Jockey L J Ferraris (declared 7 June 2021 at 13H33).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) ICY NIGHT raced with a tongue tie on (declared 8 June 2021 at 07H56).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) COUNTRY FLAME cut into right hind pastern.
b) ICY NIGHT cut into left hind pastern.
c) MAMA TEMBU examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
SCRATCHED:
a) THREE HILLS reserve runner. Advised 8 June 2021 at 08H15.
b) ESCAPE ARTIST insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
