THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STARBOARD (G van Niekerk) cast her right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay. b) DAD'S CATCH (C Bantam) was restless in the stalls. c) PRETTY BETTY (A Andrews) was stubborn loading. d) STARBOARD (G van Niekerk) jumped awkwardly outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RILLE (X Carstens) over raced in the early stages. b) Approaching the 1300m SECRET DEPTHS (R Khathi) was steadied when tightened for galloping room on the inside of SILVER TIARA (M Winnaar) which was carried in by PRETTY BETTY (A Andrews) which shifted in and was immediately straightened to relieve the pressure. c) LILAC SENSATION (S Mbhele) returned suffering from a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J Batt) d) Jockey K de Melo was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on RILLE, which resulted in a change of rider. Jockey K de Melo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. e) PRETTY BETTY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised.
