THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MERCURY RISING (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start MERCURY RISING (C Zackey) shifted in, made contact with WINTER MOSAIC (G van Niekerk), then shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of KWINTA'S LIGHT (R Fourie). b) At the 300m SANTA MARIA (K de Melo) was bumped inwards, had to steady and brushed TREASURE HUNT (L Mxothwa) on two occasions when KISSING POINT (C Murray) which was hanging in, shifted in sharply, in spite of the efforts from Jockey C Murray. c) MERCURY RISING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
