THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BACKSTOP (S Randolph) was stubborn to load and lost 1 length. Trainer A Rivalland will be advised to re-school this filly. b) BLACK POT (*K Brewer) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Between the 1500m, and 1200m, INDIGO MOON (R Fourie) was restrained from a 3 wide position in order to secure a position in second last, one off the rail. b) CORDOBESA (C Zackey) and INDIGO MOON (R Fourie) were hanging in from the 250m. c) At the 250m, BALLYGOOD (L Hewitson) which had attempted to improve into a narrow run, had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of RUBY SKY (D Dillon) which was hanging in from the 300m. Thereafter, at the 200m, EMERALD ISLA (C Habib) and RUBY SKY (D Dillon) were carried in by DIAMOND GIRL (W Agrella) which rolled in. d) CAPRIANA (S Moodley) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. e) Apprentice K Brewer reported that BLACK POT took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of BACKSTOP (S Randolph) (6.00 lengths, 3/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer A Rivalland will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. g) INDIGO MOON (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) BLACK POT : Nothing obvious detected. b) BACKSTOP : Nothing obvious detected. c) BALLYGOOD : Cut into left hind.
