THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TENACITY (K de Melo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 1300m VISION ON ICE (O Noach), which over raced in the early stages, was brushed on the hindquarters by DYANNE (G van Niekerk). b) At the 50m ADDERBURY LAKE (GB) (C Zackey) was carried out marginally when ENCHANTED CREEK (G Behr) ducked outwards. c) Jockey G Behr was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ENCHANTED CREEK more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey G Behr signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey G Behr's recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey G Behr used his crop, the number of strikes (14) over the permissible level and that Jockey Behr had used his crop to correct this filly when she ducked out. d) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking DYANNE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey G van Niekerk's recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey G van Niekerk used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level. e) ENCHANTED CREEK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
