THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BARNEYS PRIDE (L J Ferraris) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) TIGHT FIVE (C Habib) and SEA WAYS (D De Gouveia) were slow losing one length. c) DOUBLE MARTINI (L Hewitson) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FOREIGN FIELD (R Munger) hung in from the 400m. b) In view of the performances of BARNEYS PRIDE (L J Ferraris) (betting 4/1, distance 6,85 lengths) and DOUBLE MARTINI (L Hewitson), (betting 28/10, distance 14,35 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Trainer R Magner was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of BARNEYS PRIDE on return to stables. c) SEA WAYS (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
