THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROY'S SPEAR (L Hewitson) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, DESERT CRUSADER (S Veale) was bumped by EPIC SOLILOQUY (A Mgudlwa) which was carried out by NO NAME BRAND (*T Gumede) which jumped out sharply. b) Shortly after the start, SIKH THE MAGIC (J Samuel), GET CARTER (N Patel), JOSHUA RULE (D Dillon), PATH TO FORTUNE (A Arries) and SOWETO ROSE (J Gates) raced in restricted galloping room when awkwardly placed on the inside of ZUBERI (S Khumalo) which shifted in. The Stewards gave due consideration as to whether there were sufficient grounds for Jockey Khumalo to answer to a charge relating to him causing interference to other runners, but instead charged Jockey Khumalo with a contravention of Rule 62.2.8. Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.8, in that as the rider of ZUBERI, he failed to ensure that when riding in this race over a straight course that he kept straight, parallel to the running rail and relative to his drawn position until a point not less than 200 metres from the start as indicated by the marker. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. c) Approaching the 300m, SIKH THE MAGIC (J Samuel) had to ease when awkwardly placed between DESERT CRUSADER (S Veale) which shifted out away from the crop marginally and JOSHUA RULE (D Dillon) which rolled in and was immediately straightened. d) SEVENTH SONG (S Moodley) was hanging out from the 300m. e) PATH TO FORTUNE (A Arries) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. f) GET CARTER (N Patel) and SOWETO ROSE (J Gates) came together and bumped shortly before the finish. g) Apprentice R Venniker (YAMASHITA'S GOLD) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. h) NO NAME BRAND (*T Gumede), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
