LUNA WISH, LA ROQUETTE and HOME RULER were slow into stride. Jockey Gould reported that he felt something amiss with WATSONIA in the running. CLOUD ATLAS raced to the front early and faded in the straight. ASHFAHAN dropped the bit and had to be ridden to keep pace with the field at the 600m. However, shortly thereafter, this mare dropped out of contention sharply and Jockey Steyn did not persevere with his ride from the 300m. In view of this report, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockey Fortune reported that READY SET GO was changing stride continually in the running. Trainer McKenzie was requested to report back on the condition of this mare upon return to the stables. DANCING IN SEATTLE and ASHFAHAN were selected for the taking of specimens for an analysis. Vet: ASHFAHAN - not striding out right fore and coughed post-race. WATSONIA - nothing obvious detected.
