THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, PERSICA (S Khumalo) kicked the back gates, resulting in JAVA HOUSE (D Schwarz) breaking through the front gate. This filly was returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) PERSICA (S Khumalo) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CAPITIANA (C Zackey) hung in from the 200m. b) BIG CITY GIRL (R Munger) hung in from the 300m. c) Jockey L J Ferraris reported that he felt something amiss with MACHALI in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Apprentice P Mxoli reported that FROMHERETOETERNITY (2,25 lengths) changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey B Nyawo reported that GOLDEN SPIRAL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare, f) CAPITIANA (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) UPCLOSEANDPERSONAL raced with a tongue tie on (declared 22 June 2021 at 08H32). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MACHALI blowing post race. b) PERSICA coughing and blood in the mouth. c) UPCLOSEANDPERSONAL recurrent brush wound left hind. d) FROMHERETOETERNITY blood in mouth. e) LADY NICA not striding out right hind. f) GOLDEN SPIRAL examined post race, nothing obvious detected. g) MISS COSTA RICA blood in the mouth.
