THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PANNA COTTA (M Yeni) lost three lengths. b) FLOWER SEASON (K de Melo) kicked the back gates was unloaded, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. Trainer M Prinsloo will be advised to re-school this filly. (BN) THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 150m, SOMEONE EXCITING (T Godden) had to ease when disappointed for a clear run. Thereafter, this mare switched out to continue its run and finished its race off strongly. b) Apprentice T Gumede signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse EAGER DUCHESS more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice T Gumede struck the horse EAGER DUCHESS, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. c) Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse BIRDWATCHER more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Khumalo struck the horse BIRDWATCHER, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed. Additionally, Jockey S Khumalo was further advised that should he appear before the Board regarding a similar contravention in the near future, a more severe sanction may follow. d) EAGER DUCHESS (*T Gumede), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer L Karriem acting for Trainer G van Zyl was advised (DA). e) BIRDWATCHER (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Howells advised (JT). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) FLOWER SEASON raced without a tongue tie (advised 28.06.2021 / 07h07). b) EAGER DUCHESS was ridden by Apprentice T Gumede (claiming 1.5kg) (advised 26.06.2021 / 10h23). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) FLOWER SEASON : Injured in the stalls. SCRATCHINGS : a) HOT MONEY : Stipes permission. b) MISS MISSOURI : Stipes permission. c) FLOWER SEASON : Injured in the stalls. Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon at 14h06 and the betting was 10/1.
