THE STARTER REPORTED
A) BUSH FEVER was nervous and kicked the back gate in the stalls.
B) ROYAL SHINDIG jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
C) PROUD WARRIOR was nervous, kicked the back gate in the stalls, was slow away and lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) Shortly after the start BUSH FEVER (E Webber), HIT FOR SIX (S Khathi) and NINJINSKY'S SON (F Herholdt) suffered varying degrees of interference when tightened for galloping room between IMPERIOUS DUKE (*Y Ramzan) and ROYAL SHINDIG (D R Lerena) which jumped inwards sharply.
B) At approximately the 1500m, HIT FOR SIX (S Khathi) brushed the inside running rail when brushed in by BUSH FEVER (E Webber) which shifted in. An inquiry will be opened into this incident.
C) AT THE OPERA (K Steyn) which commenced to over-race in the middle stages, clipped the heels of BUSH FEVER (E Webber) at approximately the 1100m.
D) Jockey J Mphanya felt something amiss with FIERY FORT in the running and eased this colt out of the race at the 400m. In view of this report, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
E) In view of the performance of TAKE THE WORLD (*K Strydom) (distance 8.05 - betting 5/1) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
F) Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse HIT FOR SIX more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a R1000 fine was imposed.
G) Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse BUSH FEVER more than 12 times in the entire race. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times (16) the crop was used and Webber's recent record with regards to this rule and guideline. A penalty of a R1000 was imposed.
H) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning FIERY FORT (J Mphanya), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this colt is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. In terms of Rule 49.7, a veterinary certificate for FIERY FORT must be submitted to the Veterinary Department of the National Horseracing Authority, before it can be entered for a race.
