THE STARTER REPORTED
A) JUNGLE PROMISE, JUST CHESTNUT and SARDINIA were slow into stride.
B) CRUCIAL was nervous in the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) JUST CHESTNUT (J Mphanya) shifted out away from the crop from the 200m.
B) Jockey K Minnie reported that SARDINIA took no interest in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
C) Apprentice K Strydom signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse ROYAL OASIS more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a warning was imposed.
D) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning JUNGLE PROMISE (S Naidoo), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. In terms of Rule 49.7, a veterinary certificate for JUNGLE PROMISE must be submitted to the Veterinary Department of the National Horseracing Authority, before it can be entered for a race. JUNGLE PROMISE must also gallop for the NHRA veterinary department after which, if found fit to race, will be sent for specimen collection for analysis. Trainer G D Smith was advised.
D) The winner QUEEN OF SHADOWS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer C Snaith acting on behalf of Trainer S J Snaith advised (LM).
E) The unplaced horse JUNGLE PROMISE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM).
