THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) IRON CHEF (*R Venniker) over-raced in the early stages. b) CORDOBESA (W Kennedy) was hanging out from the 300m. c) HIROSHIMA (*T Gumede) shifted in to continue its run in the concluding stages. d) Apprentice R Venniker (IRON CHEF) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. e) Apprentice T Gumede signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse HIROSHIMA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice T Gumede struck the horse HIROSHIMA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. f) Trainers D Campbell (CRYSTAL COVE) and D Bosch (CORDOBESA) will be advised that their respective runners failed to adequately parade and that should these horses behave similarly in future, they may be suspended. g) FLYING TESSA (K Sakayi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
