THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) LEGISLATE'S DANCE (*J Jacobs) was hanging in from the 400m. b) At the 250m, STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) and WALTON HALL (M V'Rensburg) became severely unbalanced when bumped out by MASTER VISION (W Agrella) which ducked out in reaction to FIREONTHETRACK (W Kennedy) switching out to continue its run. c) In the concluding stages, A WHOLE NEW WORLD (*K Brewer) was unable to obtain a clear run when awkwardly placed on the heels of MASTER TOBE (*G Pieterse) which shifted in away from the crop from the 200m. As a consequence of this incident, Apprentice K Brewer (A WHOLE NEW WORLD) was unable to fully assist his mount to the finish. d) Jockeys S Veale (TOM BOMBADIL) and K de Melo (GREENLIGHTFLASH) reported that they felt something amiss with this respective mounts in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of H TWO O (R Fourie) (32.35 lengths, 25/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey D Dillon signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse THE BAYOU more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey D Dillon struck the horse THE BAYOU, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed. g) THE BAYOU (D Dillon), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P V Lafferty advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) A WHOLE NEW WORLD raced equipped with blinkers (advised 20.07.21/10h32). b) MASTER TOBE raced equipped with blinkers (advised 20.07.21/15h31). c) GREENLIGHTFLASH raced equipped with blinkers (advised 15.07.21/15h49).
