THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) OYSTER KING (R Danielson) and TILLIEANGUS (R Munger) were restless in the stalls.
b) DARK TIDE (D Schwarz) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
c) SKIMINAC (*X Jacobs) was slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, TILLIEANGUS (R Munger), which jumped outwards, and DARK TIDE (D Schwarz), which jumped inwards, came together and bumped.
b) DARK TIDE (D Schwarz) over-raced in the early stages.
c) TILLIEANGUS (R Munger) over-raced in the early and middle stages.
d) At approximately the 1400m, SKIMINAC (*X Jacobs) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of ICE MAN COMETH (J Mariba).
e) Jockey L Hewitson reported that he felt something amiss with TIGHT FIVE in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning TIGHT FIVE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer S G Tarry was advised.
f) In view of the performance of TILLIEANGUS (R Munger), (distance 6,50 lengths, betting 25/7), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Trainer B Webber was requested to report back on the condition of this gelding on return to stables.
g) OYSTER KING (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
Trainer C I Jonker advised (GF).
h) ROYAL ESCAPADE (D De Gouveia), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Dawson advised (KS).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) TILLIEANGUS was ridden by Jockey R Munger (declared 22 July 2021 at 16H47).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) NORDIC REBEL raced with a compression mask (declared 15 July 2021 at 11H24).
b) DARK TIDE raced equipped with blinkers (declared 19 July 2021 at 10H48).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) TIGHT FIVE brush wound right hind; bilateral epistaxis, recommended 60-day suspension. Trainer S G Tarry was advised (KS).
b) TILLIEANGUS examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
c) ICE MAN COMETH scalp wound left hind.
SCRATCHED:
a) FUNKY MUSIC bolted en route to the racecourse. Advised 22 July 2021 at 15H45.
