THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BACKSTOP (D Dillon) was difficult and stubborn to load. Trainer A Rivalland will be advised to re-school this filly. b) LEADING LYRIC (*S Njokwe) was fractious in the stalls. c) WHATEVERYOULIKE (*G Pieterse) lost one length d) KINSKEY'S TUNE (L Hewitson) lost two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse CASA ROSADA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey A Arries struck the horse CASA ROSADA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. b) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning LEADING LYRIC, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer G Rich will be advised. (Suspension Dates : 27 July 21 to 24 September 21) c) BACKSTOP (D Dillon), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
