THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPTAIN OUPIE (S Khumalo) was restless in the stalls which resulted in BIG BAY (G Lerena) rushing the front gates and subsequently being removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : b) PRAY FOR RAIN (T Godden) which was hanging out from the 400m, shifted out away from the crop at the 150m. c) TRACES (AUS) (D Dillon) which was hanging in from the 400m, proving difficult to assist, took an awkward stride at the 350m. d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with CAPTAIN OUPIE in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of TRUE CHARM (R Munger) (8.10 lengths, 25/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested. f) PRAY FOR RAIN (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D R Drier advised (AH). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) PRAY FOR RAIN raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 19.07.21/7h57). b) TRACES (AUS) raced with cheek pieces on the right side only (advised 29.07.21/9h52). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) CAPTAIN OUPIE : Nothing obvious detected. b) TRUE CHARM : Not striding out right hind. SCRATCHINGS : a) NO LAYING UP : Urticaria (Trainer - 31.07.21/7h15). Rule 53.5 applies. b) VALYRIAN KING : No transport (Trainer - 30.07.21/10h21). c) BIG BAY : Injured in the starting stalls.
