THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1500m, SPLASH OF GREEN (M V'Rensburg) was carried out by JUST FOR LAUGHS (G van Niekerk) which rolled out when racing fiercely in the early and middle stages. b) Approaching the 300m, RAIN IN HOLLAND (L Hewitson) which raced awkwardly in the straight and was hanging in from the 400m, was carried out by AISLING (C Habib) which rolled out. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, this filly had to be directed out off the heels of KAILENE (M Yeni), which rolled in. c) AISLING (C Habib) was hanging out in the concluding stages. d) Shortly before the finish, Jockey R Fourie (SUPREME QUEST) briefly lost his right side rein. As a consequence, this filly shifted out and bumped KAILENE (M Yeni) which rolled in. e) Jockey L Hewitson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse RAIN IN HOLLAND more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey L Hewitson struck the horse RAIN IN HOLLAND, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. f) RAIN IN HOLLAND (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (SC).
