THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SINGFORAFA (R Munger) was stubborn to load.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) KASIMIR (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 400m.
b) In the straight, AL SAKEET (C Zackey) was unable to secure clear running until the 200m. Thereafter, this gelding which shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages, finished its race off strongly.
c) Shortly before the finish, ULTRA MAGNUS (D Dillon) was carried in by PEARL OF ASIA (S Moodley) which shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages.
d) In view of the performance of CHIMICHURI RUN (L Hewitson) (5.25 lengths, 16/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) Jockey R Danielson reported that BOHICA made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey S Moodley's crop use on PEARL OF ASIA in this race.
g) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey R Fourie's crop use on KASIMIR in this race.
h) Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse MK'S PRIDE more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Khumalo struck the horse MK'S PRIDE, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
i) PEARL OF ASIA (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S Hill advised (ML).
