THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHE'S A KEEPER (S Khumalo) and VICTORIA PAIGE (L Hewitson) lost 1 length, respectively. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1000m, RUNNING BRAVE (M Yeni) which over-raced in the early and middle stages, was directed outwards to race around the field and to the front at the 400m. Thereafter, this mare was hanging in, in the straight. b) At the 200m, SCENTED MISTRESS (*J Jacobs) had to ease when awkwardly placed between MOUNT LAUREL (C Zackey) which was carried out marginally by HEART STWINGS (D Dillon) which rolled out and CHAT CHING (G van Niekerk) which was hanging in from the 400m. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, CHAT CHING (G van Niekerk) and MOUNT LAUREL (C Zackey) had to ease when awkwardly placed between HEART STWINGS (D Dillon) which rolled out and SENTBYDESTINY (G Lerena) which rolled in marginally. In assessing this incident, the Board was of the view that blame could not be apportioned to any individual rider and therefore, deemed this to be a racing incident. c) At the 350m, Jockey L Hewitson (VICTORIA PAIGE) removed his goggles. d) Apprentice T Gumede signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse CATCHAFALLINGSTAR more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice T Gumede struck the horse CATCHAFALLINGSTAR, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. e) SHE'S A KEEPER (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) VICTORIA PAIGE raced with a compression mask. b) SENTBYDESTINY raced with a compression mask. c) MOUNT LAUREL was ridden by Jockey C Zackey.
