THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD (GB) (*K Strydom) raced green on the bend. b) Approaching the 150m HURLEY BURLEY (O Noach), which was hanging out, was unable to secure a clear run on the inside of LEGITIMISE (F Herholdt), had to be steadied and directed to the outside of LEGITIMISE (F Herholdt) to obtain clear running. c) The saddle on GONNABEALRIGHT (S Mbhele) slipped back in running. The was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. d) Jockey S Mbhele was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GONNABEALRIGHT more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Mbhele signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey S Mbhele's recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey Mbhele used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level. e) HURLEY BURLEY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
