THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SOWETO SPINA (S Khumalo) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) FIGHTER PILOT (M van Rensburg), EIGHTS ENOUGH (B Nyawo) and ALFAATIK (K Matsunyane) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 400m, Jockey M van Rensburg was dislodged from FIGHTER PILOT, which broke down. b) Leaving the 300m, SOWETO SPINA (S Khumalo), which hung in, had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of FORGED BY FIRE (M Yeni), which rolled out marginally. c) Jockey B Nyawo reported that EIGHTS ENOUGH changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey R Danielson reported that SILVER TO VANO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) FORGED BY FIRE (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
