THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) During the loading process, KING'S SPEAR (M Yeni) broke through the front gate, returned to the start, examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. The Starting Stall Certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn.
b) PERFECT NUMBER (S Brown) was slow losing three lengths. Trainer D C Pretorius was advised to re-school this colt prior to its next engagement.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to KING'S SPEAR, this gelding has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 6 August 2021 to 12 August 2021. KING'S SPEAR may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer G J Maroun was advised (GT).
b) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with KING'S SPEAR in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) Jockey N Klink reported that KAPTEIN MARTIENS made a severe abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) ROZARA (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A B Fortune advised (GF).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) FREEDOM DANCER was ridden by Jockey W Kennedy (declared 3 August 2021 at 07H46).
b) PHAKA IMALI was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 3 August 2021 at 10H09).
