THE STARTER REPORTED A) ALASKAN FATE and CERELIA were slow away and lost 1 length respectively. B) JUST JUDY was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) MADAM SEVILLE (C Maujean) over-raced in the early stages and tired from the 200m. B) BEYOND TEMTATION (K Minnie) pulled hard in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. C) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking MISTRESS OF MEANS more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey C Zackey signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000, 00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey C Zackey's recent clean record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey Zackey used his crop and the number of strikes (15) over the permissible level. D) The winner MISTRESS OF MEANS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer S B Kotzen advised (LM).
