THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) Fair start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) A WHOLE NEW WORLD (K de Melo) raced wide around the turn and to the front at the 1600m.
b) BANZAI PIPELINE (*R Venniker) was hanging in between the 500m and the 300m.
c) Jockey W Kennedy reported that CAPTAIN WHO took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Gareth van Zyl will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this colt on return to stables.
d) Apprentice K Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with WHITE LIGHTNING in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) Jockey M Yeni reported that UPLIFTED made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) In view of the performance of TOLTEC (T Godden) (20.40 lengths, 16/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning WHITE LIGHTNING (*K Sakayi), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer P V Lafferty was advised. (Suspension Dates : 09.08.21 - 07.10.21, bdi)
h) Jockey M Yeni signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse UPLIFTED more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey M Yeni struck the horse UPLIFTED, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed.
i) BRIGADE (A Arries), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P M Gadsby advised (DA).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) ALADO'S PRIDE was ridden by Jockey S Veale (advised 07.08.21/9h45).
b) BRIGADE raced with a compression mask and without ear muffs (advised 08.08.21/8h10).

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
a) CAPTAIN WHO : Nothing obvious detected.
b) WHITE LIGHTNING : Bi-lateral epistaxis. Confirmed 60 days suspension.
c) UPLIFTED : Abnormal respiratory noise.
d) TOLTEC : Coughing.
e) BANZAI PIPELINE : Over-reached left front.
