THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IDEAL WOLFF (M Yeni) was slow into stride. b) FRENCH LEAVE (D Schwarz) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 300m, KOOL BAIKAL (L Hewitson) and UN DEUX TROIS (R Munger) were carried out by WALTZING AL (*C F Dicken), which hung out from the 400m. b) In the concluding stages, UN DEUX TROIS (R Munger) was brushed outwards by IDEAL WOLFF (M Yeni), which shifted out away from the crop and was straightened. c) KINGS CUP (Wes Marwing) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. d) ANCIENT ROME (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer P A Peter, advised (LN). Assistant Trainer A Peter was asked if he could offer any factors which may have accounted for this gelding's improved performance. In this regard, he was unable to provide any suitable explanation.
