THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WILLOW LANE (L Hewitson) and THUNDER SHOWER (C Maujean) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, INDIGO WINTER (S Khumalo) and THUNDER SHOWER (C Maujean) suffered various degrees of interference when awkwardly placed between WILLOW LANE (L Hewitson), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls, and THUNDER SHOWER (C Maujean), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. As a consequence of this, INDIGO WINTER (S Khumalo) lost momentum and gave ground to the field. b) THUNDER SHOWER (C Maujean) hung in from the 200m. c) Leaving the 200m, INDIGO WINTER (S Khumalo) reacted to and took an awkward stride when accidentally struck on the face by Jockey M Yeni's crop (FORT SNOW). The Stipendiary Board, after reviewing the incident, was of the opinion that this was purely accidental and took no further action on this matter. d) BURMESE TIARA (W Kennedy) hung out in the concluding stages. e) WILLOW LANE (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
