THE STARTER REPORTED
A) KINGSTON ROCK was nervous and kicked the back gate in the stalls.
B) ROCK THE KAZVAR was nervous in the stalls and reared as the start was effected.
C) TRIPPIN THE STARS, SONNY QUINN and GOD OF THUNDER were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) At approximately the 800m, GOD OF THUNDER (M Mjoka) which rolled in had to steady off the heels of ELEGANT GENERAL (R Khathi). Thereafter, Jockey M Mjoka reported that he felt something amiss with GOD OF THUNDER in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
B) At approximately the 200m, KINGSTON ROCK (G Cheyne) had to steady when cramped for galloping room between the inside running rail and WINGING IT (R Munger) which rolled in. Thereafter, Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with WINGING IT in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
C) In view of the performance of IRON HENRY (R Fourie) (distance 4.65 - betting 5/2) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
D) In view of the performance of KINGSTON ROCK (G Cheyne) (distance 10.15 - betting 5/2) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
E) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning WINGING IT (R Munger), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
F) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning GOD OF THUNDER (M Mjoka), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer M L Turner was advised.
G) The winner ROCK THE KAZVAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J P Nel advised (LM).
H) The second placed horse MAGIC BLAZE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer D G Smith acting on behalf of Trainer G D Smith advised (LM).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES
A) WINGING IT raced equipped with a compression mask (08:40 - 17/08/2021).
