THE STARTER REPORTED A) AQUA DELTA was stubborn loading. B) CARIOCA and CHERRY ROAD were slow into stride. C) BARBERTON SILVER refused to load and was subsequently scratched by the Starter. The starting stall certificate for this gelding is withdrawn. D) CHERRY ROAD was slow into stride. E) THE HIGHNWAY MAN was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. Trainer G D Smith will be advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) A false start was called by the starter with regard to THE HIGHWAY MAN in stall gate (9) which broke the front gate open prior to the start being effected. All horses were re-strained by their riders, checked by the Course Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and re-loaded. B) Approaching the 700m, PHIL'S POWER (C Zackey) had to steady momentarily in anticipation of running onto the heels of GLOBAL DRUMMER (*Y Ramzan) which rolled in marginally. C) Shortly before the finish, AQUA DELTA (R Khathi) and EARTH HOUR (R Fourie) which shifted out away from the crop, came together and brushed. D) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BARBERTON SILVER (S Naidoo), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading into the stalls. Suspension dates: 18 August 2021 to 24 August 2021 both days included. BARBERTON SILVER may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G D Smith will be advised. E) The winner GLOBAL DRUMMER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer D G Smith acting on behalf of Trainer G D Smith advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) DUBULA raced equipped with blinkers (07:41 - 14/08/2021). THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) PHIL'S POWER cast left hind shoe. B) CHERRY ROAD stall injury left hind. SCRATCHINGS A) BARBERTON SILVER refused to load (16:02 - 17/08/2021).
