THE STARTER REPORTED A) HOGANS ALLEY, GALAPAGOS HOTSPOT, BLUE MONDAY RUSH and JACKSWAY were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) MAESTRO SONADOR (R Munger) over-raced in the early stages. B) HOGANS ALLEY (C Zackey) failed to muster speed, raced detached from the field and was uncompetitive throughout. C) Jockey S Khathi appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding of JACKSWAY in the closing stages. He was advised to ride his mounts with sufficient vigour and determination so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards. D) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with GALAPAGOS HOTSPOT in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning GALAPAGOS HOTSPOT (G van Niekerk), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this colt is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer J V A Strydom was advised. E) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning HOGANS ALLEY (C Zackey), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. In terms of Rule 49.7, a veterinary certificate for HOGANS ALLEY must be submitted to the Veterinary Department of the National Horseracing Authority, before it can be entered for a race. Trainer J A Visser was advised. When questioned, Trainer J A Visser told the Stewards that HOGANS ALLEY (C Zackey) and ROCKLEY BEACH (T M Musekiwa) entered his stables in July 2021 and that he was unsure of the reasons why these horses had not raced for a lengthy period. Mr Visser's attention was drawn to the provisions of Rule 10.5.7. F) The winner HUKUM was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer F Jacobs acting on behalf of Trainer J V A Strydom advised (LM). G) The unplaced horse JACKSWAY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer A Mtengwana acting on behalf of Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM).
