THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EDGE OF WINTER (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1000m, THE BRIEF (S Khumalo) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of GERONIMO (*J Jacobs) which rolled in. a) Jockey E Ngwane signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse MASTER KEEKU more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey E Ngwane struck the horse MASTER KEEKU, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. b) HUMDINGER (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable employee J Mynhardt acting on behalf of Trainer R A Hill advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) MR MOLONY was ridden by Jockey D Dillon and this gelding raced with steel shoes (advised 19.08.21/12h10). b) CHARA SANDS was ridden by Jockey K Sakayi.
