THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FIGHT SONG (S Khumalo) lost 1 length. b) PAYBACKTHEMONEY (*R Venniker) was slow into stride. c) AFRICAN SUNRISE (D Dillon) was stubborn to load. Trainer W Whitehead will be advised to re-school this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SHAVOUT (A Marcus) over-raced in the early stages. b) Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse FIGHT SONG more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Khumalo struck the horse FIGHT SONG, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. c) FIGHT SONG (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (DA).
