THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SERVICE ACE (F Herholdt) jumped slow, losing one length.
b) PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (A Marcus) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) CLEAN SLATE (M Winnaar) took an awkward stride shortly after the start.
b) Shortly after the start CAPTAIN PERSIA (R Khathi), which was carried out slightly by TOZZETTI (K de Melo) was bumped heavily by PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (A Marcus) which shifted in abruptly. As a consequence, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (A Marcus) was turned and became unbalanced.
c) In view of the performance of PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (A Marcus) (Betting 7/2 : Distance 19.30), which Jockey A Marcus reported took no interest in the heavy underfoot conditions, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
d) Jockey R Fourie, the rider of BON BOYAGE, reported this colt made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine.
e) Jockey K de Melo, the rider of TOZZETTI, reported that this colt changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine.
f) SILENT TRIGGER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (SC)
JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES:
a) A Domeyer (SILENT TRIGGER) rode +1.0kg of which 0.5kg was declared (declared 09h50 on 20210904) The stewards allowed this overweight as Jockey A Domeyer had been stood down at Fairview Racecourse with dehydration. He was examined by the course medical doctor at Kenilworth before today's race meeting and was advised to keep hydrated through the course of the day.
