THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SILVA VIEWPOINT (K de Melo) was fractious, reared, dislodged Jockey K de Melo while loading. The gelding was then loaded riderless.
b) GLOBAL FORESTS (M Winnaar) and SILVA VIEWPOINT (K de Melo) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Upon arrival at the start, the bridle on SILVA VIEWPOINT (K de Melo) could not be adjusted and had to be replaced, causing a lengthy delay.
b) FREEDOM PARK (*J Jacobs) pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
c) In view of the report from the starter regarding SILVA VIEWPOINT (K de Melo) this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 05/09/2021 to 11/09/2021 inclusive). SILVA VIEWPOINT may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
d) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ONE DAY OR DAY ONE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey L Mxothwa's recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey L Mxothwa used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level.
e) Jockey K de Melo, the rider of SILVA VIEWPOINT, reported this gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine.
f) QUE SHIRAZ, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (BM)
