THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BLANCHETTA (K de Melo) refused to load and was withdrawn.
b) ROY'S DECISION (*T Gumede) was stubborn to load.
c) CELTIC CRYSTAL (T Godden) lost 2 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) In the concluding stages, LUCKY MISS (M Yeni) was tightened for galloping room when awkwardly placed on the outside of OCTOBER SONG (S Moodley) which was hanging out from the 300m. A member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review into this incident. However, after viewing the patrol films of this race, no further action was taken. In assessing this incident from a sanction perspective, the Board was of the view that at the point where OCTOBER SONG (S Moodley) shifted towards LUCKY MISS (M Yeni), OCTOBER SONG (S Moodley) was quickening away from LUCKY MISS (M Yeni) and therefore the extent of the interference, was sufficiently mitigated in order to avoid a suspension from riding in races. However, Jockey S Moodley (OCTOBER SONG) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised to take stronger corrective measures and care in order to ensure that a similar incident does not occur in future.
b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BLANCHETTA (K de Melo), this mare's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 06.09.21 to the 12.09.21. BLANCHETTA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M Dixon was advised. (SL)
c) OCTOBER SONG (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M D Miller advised (ML).
