THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Trainer SJ Snaith appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the improved running of WILD COAST (L Mxothwa) compared to this horse's run on 10 August 2021. Trainer SJ Snaith explained that Jockey C Zackey had reported to him that this horse had choked up and made a respiratory noise post-race and for that reason he had fitted a tongue tie for today's race. In his opinion, this had accounted for the improved performance. Trainer SJ Snaith has been advised that WILD COAST should be similarly equipped in future engagements. b) Jockey A Andrews, the rider of SNOW REPORT, reported this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. c) WILD COAST, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (CvA) d) CAPTAIN FLINDERS, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised.
