THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) DON'T TOUCH ME (*T Gumede) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) At the 1300m, HEY BILL (*R Venniker) was carried out and wide by CALLMEMRGREENLIGHT (S Veale) which shifted out when it refused to settle and raced fiercely on heels. Thereafter, this gelding raced wide into and compounded in, in the straight. In view of the performance of CALLMEMRGREENLIGHT (S Veale) (25.80 lengths, 4/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. With regard to this incident, Jockey S Veale advised the Board that he will recommend to Trainer D Drier that a different bit be used on this gelding moving forward. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that FADE TO BLACK took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) DON'T TOUCH ME (*T Gumede), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) CALLMEMRGREENLIGHT raced with a compression mask.
