THE STARTER REPORTED A) BOLD CAPTAIN jumped outwards leaving the stalls. B) ARKAAN and MISS GLAMOUR were slow into stride. C) SKATING ON ICE dislodged Jockey C Zackey shortly after the start. D) CRYSTAL SKY was nervous in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) CRYSTAL SKY (L Mxothwa) was reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a handler. Trainer S B Kotzen was advised that should this filly behave similarly in future it may be suspended. B) As the start was effected SKATING ON ICE (C Zackey) jumped outwards awkwardly, as a consequence Jockey C Zackey became unbalanced and was dislodged. C) Shortly after the start, MISS GLAMOUR (T M Musekiwa) was squeezed out between ARKAAN (C Maujean) and BOLD CAPTAIN (R Khathi) which jumped outwards. D) Jockey S Naidoo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse COMPARE more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding on a penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (16), Jockey Naidoo's poor record in relation to this rule and guideline. Accordingly a penalty of a R2000 fine was imposed. E) The winner WIND SOCK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer Z Oosthuizen advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) MISS GLAMOUR Jockey T M Musekiwa replaced Jockey M Mjoka (13:55 - 09/09/2021). B) MISS GLAMOUR raced equipped with alumites front, unshod behind (to be investigated) (13:45 - 06/09/2021). THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) ARCTIC ADVANCE coughing, withdrawn at the start. B) BOLD CAPTAIN cast right fore shoe and post-race distress syndrome (moderate). SCRATCHINGS A) BOND lame off fore, Rule 53.5 applies (08:10 - 10/09/2021).
