THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPRICCIO (A Arries) was slow into stride. b) HUMDINGER (*K Strydom) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Into the first turn, UMKHOMAZI (*R Venniker) was carried out by IMPERIAL BALLET (K de Melo) which shifted out. Jockey K de Melo appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was reminded of his obligation to take all reasonable measures to ensure he holds his racing line in races, particularly when horses are racing in close proximity. He was further advised that should a similar incident occur in future, a more severe sanction may be imposed. b) In view of the performance of TANGO TIME (S Khumalo) (13.95 lengths, 25/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) HUMDINGER (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
